In the depths of night
I gaze into the sky;
I listen and watch,
The multitude of stars.
Then as though, high,
In the vastness of space,
I hear a cry.
The wail of a dying star,
The million mingled voices;
Those dead planets last sigh.
As the shooting star
Bright as moonlight,
Shines a second
And is gone
