Mrs Muggins decided the 3 or 4 year old Television in the lounge was getting a bit old. Technological progress was continuing to move forward and it was therefore getting old. The lodger had just moved out and she had partly reclaimed the attic. The world had suddenly seemed a simpler place once again and things could go back to ‘normal’ again. (Alfred Muggins still had difficulty remembering a time which could really be called ‘normal’?)
That was on the home front of course. Matters in the wider world were in the process of falling apart big time, worldwide, even if they hadn’t already been in the previous, nonetheless seemingly much calmer 4 years of the Biden Presidency, despite the invasion of Ukraine and the fall of Afghanistan, and the destruction of Gaza etc. Not since the Civil War (1861-1865) did Alfred think there had been such consternation in the States, as Trump and his newly revealed side kick and to all intents and purposes Vice President Elon Mars Musk (or maybe the real President, the actual puppetmaster? – now that was a thought?) made themselves comfortably in power following their, hopefully above board, swing state success, for their front facing Republican Party, who had surprisingly managed to swing it in every single swing state on the electoral chess board. (It was actually a little bit suspicious according to one or two You Tube videos and Facebook posts Alfred had viewed himself, as there was a possibility that some votes had not been counted in some majority democrat population centres in places like Pennsylvania, due to clever computer interruptions, or extractions, just the sort of thing Mars Musk and his well paid young computer whizz kids might have been able to pull off without ‘normal’ people suspecting anything at all? While even Alfred , who was actually quite famous for producing quite hard to believe conspiracy theories himself, thought he had better hold back and say nothing, lest his reputation be tarnished, without real understanding or independent proof. Nonetheless Alfred wouldn’t have put it past Musk or Trumplicon himself to have pulled off such a coup, in the interests of pulling off their electoral coup to take over the government of the United States and close half of it down, while Musk, and presumably other super wealthy backers, fed off the erstwhile United States Federal Government on lucrative technological and auditing contracts. Anyway, perhaps I digress, or perhaps this is all the main point after all?)

That might be one of the
That might be one of the longest bracketed entries I've ever read.
Always interesting to catch up on Alfred's latest thoughts.
