they’re actually toast

as Nellie will tell if

you believe in her ghost.

Easy to make it just 

takes a tick. 

Surprise yourself, all

you need is some bread

that isn’t too thick.

Take a slice of Mother’s Pride

or any bread toasted both sides;

Not really sure - it might be a must

before you go on to cut off the crust.

With a sharp knife

cut the slices in two

put them back in the grill

is the next thing to do.

The untoasted centres

will harden and curl 

into crispy shells

which cannot unfurl.

Tasty morsels for delicate tums

eat with care because of the crumbs.

Handy hors d’oeuvre if you’ve no money

spread ‘em with goat cheese and top off with honey.

Dip them into your favourite sauce

or anything else you find tasty of course.

Here’s a luxury that’s not out of reach
