First I wrote about me; 
short stories, poems – rhymed and not.
Collections on youthful misdemeanours,
hispanic adventures of a fish out of rainwater.

I have other books

Then I wrote a novel: Britain in 2030
corrupt politicians, exporting immigrants,
smoking bans, less than honest policemen at the top
and so many unlikely things: I finished it in 2010. 

I have other books.

Next, I wrote another novel. A piece of cod-Victoriana,
Dickensian whimsy, grue and this charming man
leading an immoral life, without conscience or regret.
Somebody even published it, but went bankrupt soon after.

I have other books.

So I wrote a sequel and another. 
All those words, all those fine words,
spilled onto pages never turned,
just pulped or banished to charity shops.

But I have other books.

You're in good company Ewan. Emily Dickinson, Manley Hopkins, Kafka, Vivaldi, Vermeer, Stieg Larsson. They were all creative minds largely unrecognised during their lifetimes and unfortunately, the writers amongst them didn't have ABC Tales at their disposal!

There are always other books. Don't underestimate the number of your pages that have been turned and enjoyed. We have our dreams, but I've reached the point where I reserve those for plots and characters, and have no expectations at all beyond the page, or screen. So when Harper Collins comes knocking, it'll be a lovely surprise. And then I'll wake up.

You sound as if you have so many stories incipientally roaming around your head. A bit like the phrase 'generations yet unborn'. I can't imagine the long haul, marathon that must be involved in getting them on to paper and sorted, edited. Rhiannon

I have no books, but I have shelves full of stuff that I've written so that after I've pegged it those left behind can read about what I've been up to.

The words 'pulped' and 'charity shops' hurt. Do you ship to Bulgaria?

 Naw.I could probably send you a book or two, depends how much the Post Office wants to rob me of. I'll look into it.

It would need to be via some sort of courier service. I've had stuff sent to me before that went adrift the second it got past Dover. Couriers might be expensive so it's probably best that I go down the traditional route and ask for them to be sent to the address of one of my kids in England for me to collect next time I'm over. In the last year or so I've bought books by Jack and Drew but they're still at my daughter's in Stockport, along with other books and CDs, waiting to be collected next time I'm over.

I bought a second-hand copy of The Complete Works of Don Camillo (as recommended by your good self) from a website based in Slovakia and it arrived here in under a week. So the problem I have appears to be a bit Brexit-based. It was an excellent read by the way, so thank you for the tip-off.

The next time I'm over will probably be January.

PS I've just had a dabble on Amazon suggesting I buy three of your books for €35 but the shipping and import duty amount to a further €33. I'll phone Farage and see what he has to say about it. I suppose he's never had to think about it before because none of his supporters can read.
