What kept me from
wanting to die sometimes
was a look on her
face in the mirror

It told me not to be
thinking such thoughts
get a grip on yourself
don’t surrender

Don’t give in to sadness
don’t you dare let me down
I‘ll watch as you wake
every morning

And I’ll carry your sadness
and my sadness, too
to the river
and watch
as it drowns

It's so good, the strength of the two of you that you have conveyed. Coming after Armistice Day, it reminds of how all the thousands of those others left behind might have kept going. It's powerful not just because of the pain but because of the love, too. Beautiful choice
