Why Should I Stand in Silence ?

The innocent you bomb
The children you kill
The lies that you speak
The blood that you spill
Tell me: Why should I stand
in silence
on your memorial day ?
The people you starve
The hatred you preach
The cages you assemble
The laws that you breach
Tell me: Why should I stand
in silence
on your memorial day ?
The past counts for nothing
Silence locks a door
The ghosts of the taken
Shame your forever-war
Tell me: Why should anyone stand
in silence
on your memorial day ?

Kilb Do you mean the
Kilb Do you mean the Holocaust Memorial Day? That's an international day to remember the millions of Jews, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities and learning difficulties, Roma, Travellers and Gipsies and many others who were murdered in nazi Germany. I don't think it belongs to any country (and nor should it) and to me it's really sad that people feel they can't condemn the atrocities of then AND the atrocities of today. Apologies if I'm confusing it with something altogether different
