The Du’Walles Cometh

The room emptied. Lore was alone with Reality. Neither of them knew they had less than an hour to prepare.
“You stared into infinity when we created the L-Verse, what did you see?”
“Everything. Past, present and future, all the same and all at once.” Reality shook their head. “It was terrifying.”
“What if I was to tell you it were possible to put that feeling into a single being?”
“Before today, we would have thought it impossible but after watching your universes continue to spin, we would say, go on.”
“With one last blast from Heimdall station, we can do it. You see, theoretically, Char and I can form a Reaper infinitely with anyone who possesses the matrix and since every version of us contains the matrix.”
“You can join with yourselves infinitely.” Reality finished their sentence. Lore smiled and nodded. “That’s incredible.”
“Let’s make some noise. Shall we?” Lore gestured for them to leave. The corridor was packed with their doppelgangers, hoping to be able to eavesdrop on their conversation.
“Oh no my friend, we were not dropping no eves, though that may be hard to conceive.” The Lore with a Paw removed their ear from the door. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine.” Lore glanced apologetically before addressing the group. “For us, this is the last step. For you, it’s the first. Whatever happens, we take it together and we face the consequences together. The plan is…”
“Could you speak up, the people behind us can’t hear you?” A Char shouted from down the corridor.
“Lore, could you please grab the closest person to you by the hand and tell them to do the same?” Lore sighed as they looked to Char and grabbed her hand. “People at the end, could you give us a thumbs up when everyone is holding hands?”
Minutes later, the thumb rose into the air. Lore put their hand into The Lore’s and formed the Reaper. The energy sparked across the chain as it prepared everyone to take their Reaper form. Lore felt them rush into them. Fifty two Reaper’s worth of energy was a good start but after the feeling they felt creating the L-Verse, it was somewhat underwhelming.
“Here’s the plan: Using our powers and Reality’s powers and their allies, we are going to temporarily speed up the L-Verse. In doing this, we will create a large number of new Reapers who have all been instructed to make their way here. By the time Du’Walles gets here, we should have more than enough power to fight a god of gods should we need it.” Lore could feel the somewhat confused consensus within their head.
“You’re making this up as you go aren’t you?” Char whispered.
“The circumstances haven’t quite been optimal. I mean, have you been following this at all? We travelled the multiverse only to find out we were preparing for a battle that wasn’t real which lead to one that was, which we ignored and now we’re taking on a beast from outside of our knowledge that may or may not exist but if the logic tracks will certainly be more powerful than anything we’ve encountered yet. In ten years, we’ve gone from footnotes in history to the beings at the centre of the universe. Of course I’m making it up as I go along.” Lore was careful not to get too loud. While they shared a mind, their thoughts weren’t available to everyone.
“Let’s do this then.” The Reaper nodded.
In the space beyond their own, fifty two megaverses spin. At the centre of their system, a ball of radiant purple energy. An hour and a half ago, that ball, for the first time, dimmed slightly. The dimming effect didn’t last long and was quickly compensated for but for a moment, something sapped away at the star at the centre of the ultraverse. Du’Walles had its eyes on Megaverse one. Something about it felt off. It couldn’t put its finger on the what but there was reason for concern in regard to that megaverse. Its orbit had been slightly sluggish this cycle and its consumption of dark matter had increased; alone these factors would not be too much of an issue but together, Du’Walles feared the worst. It was coming.
The Reaper, with the help of Reality, gathered every individual on the battlefield with a Reaper matrix or the ability to merge with them and one by one, absorbed them all. The Reaper finally felt strong again. Despite having the power to destroy cities with their own two hands, it wasn’t until they had absorbed nearly a hundred skilled warriors and Cornerstones that they felt ready. The time was now. The Reaper flew back from the battlefield and into the harness of Heimdall station one last time. It was here they would receive one last boost. Shackled into the station, Reality merged with them. If it hadn’t been for the back up capacitors and relays, the plan may have failed as the surge of power was one they hadn’t been expecting. Fifty one Reality’s merging with an already taxed Reaper was one hell of a rush. The Reaper activated the station and began to charge themselves. The station’s golden energy was eclipsed by their natural, blinding white glow; it was present but near invisible. Channelling every last drop of energy they could, they extended one of the equator’s spires outside of the confines of the central universe. The band of time and the L-Verse illuminated the spire’s tip. Energy collected and spire extended, they fired. The future ripped through the station like nothing they had ever seen before or would again, fracturing the barrel of the spire as it passed. While occurring almost instantaneously, from the Reaper’s point of view, it was not too dissimilar from throwing a ball. The future’s light resonated with the time band of the L-Verse sending it into overdrive. Lore watched as countless realities were created and destroyed in a fraction of a blink of an eye. An incalculable number of golden beams exploded from each universe like fireworks to celebrate their destruction as the new Reapers descended on the central reality. Lore knew they couldn’t hold the energy much longer; being a conduit took its toll and their resolve was starting to waiver. Their last few seconds passed like an eternity as they slowly discontinued the beam. Time in the L-Verse resumed moving at its regular pace and soon, the fireworks were over. The Reaper fell from the harness but as they did, the harness fell away from them. Pinned to the ceiling, they blacked out. That changed after a sizable explosion shook them from their slumber. Heimdall station, which was once orbiting the only other planet in the central universe had fallen, in doing so, creating the first man made structure in the central universe. The Reaper was tossed through the observation window and separated on the grass below. An army of glowing soldiers surrounded them. The Infinite Lore.
