Surpass the end

Chip shop fumes reach out like flailing tendrils,
Make contact and climb up my nostrils
Smells etched onto clothes, the
Freshness abated, as I waited for the
Cycle to end.
My footsteps awaken thirst
For tea,
Quickly followed by a deliberate query;
Idle talk, a cuppa and the telly,
A smorgasbord of the derivative and enthralling,
Topics covered include woes and highs,
Drink and pies,
The people we fantasise.
Characters dissected and constructed,
Searching for that integrity
So oblivious we are to the tangible truth,
Yet.
The bonds we forge take time and toil
And they last.
These memories, my friends
Surpass the certainty of the end.

I love the way the rhymes
I love the way the rhymes weave in and out of this. Very good indeed and a top read.
