The Grandfather

He was called grandfather by those ignorant of

the years he had suffered and how much he had loved .

So he retreated,  like a hermit in a cave .

from all those who mocked him for the kindness he gave .

He was useless to them who ignored who he was ,

they took everything that he had and just because  

he wanted to help them , to get up on their feet  

but in return all he got was insults to keep .

He started to become invisible to them

and his comfortable home turned into a play pen .

So he sat in a cave all alone everyday

to get away from the things that they’d always  say.

They used him and abused him as they years went by

and they wished and waited for the day he would die .   .            

  Have pity please for him , the  grandfather by name ,

who shared all that he had to the strangers who came .
