Lambs At The Slaughterhouse Door

There in the hands of the butchers

knives where the lambs at the slaughter house door ,

there by the Brae they were taken away ,

the lives of the lambs were no more.

The slaughterhouse closed, its floors were hosed

and in its place an egg factory stood .

An awful smell with ghostly baa’s from hell

remained around the neighbourhood .

Around the brae they began to pray

for the lambs with the power of faith .

though the old doors were closed

the good shepherd knows,

how to keep all those lambs safe

Like a lamb at the gate with nowhere to go

the little lambs made it home

Removed from that old place

and sheltered by His grace

they’re not lost and alone

.
