The Man Who Hung Onto Moonbeams
By Paul McCann
Rusty Etchworth climbed mountains at night . No one else in the world could do what Rusty was able to do . He had an inner magnetism that allowed him to loose gravity at night and when the moon was out Rusty was drawn to the moon and he felt an urge to get closer . For years he climbed mountains and cliffs at night without any fear because he could float . What he also experienced was finding bridges across open spaces that he couldn’t explain but they took him beyond to the open spaces
where he was welcomed and appreciated. In the open spaces he would sing to the moon flowers and watch them bloom and dance in the moonlight . The night birds would come on the breeze and echoed their melodic calls in response to Rusty’s singing . How could he ever try to explain to anyone what he was able to do . They’d say he was mad and try their medical interventions that would tamper with his inner magnetic powers .
So, he lived with the secret and hung on moonbeams at sung at night songs from his heart where he needed no proof to do the things he did best .
He wished one day people might understand the things he could do but until then he could tell no one and there was nothing in life he loved more than singing his songs and feeling accepted for who he was .
He was Rusty Etcheorth the man who hung onto moonbeams and he went to all kinds of strange places where moon flowers grew and night birds flew until daylight came when he had to go back across the bridge from the open spaces to his ordinary life inside his little cottage in Brighter Green Valley.

Wouldn't it be great if we could all cross that bridge? Maybe we do in our dreams.
