She was washed up on the shore lying upon the sand ,
Long hair fell across her shoulders,
her tail not meant for land .
She tried to speak but her murmur,
I could not understand .
She pointed to a pirate ship,
then clenched her open hand .
She shook her fist
and then I saw the anger on her face .
Her open wound wore well humanities ugly disgrace .
I carried her back into the cave,
no mans eyes had seen .
I dressed the mermaids injury ,
where some harpoon had been .
Soon when she was better
and fit to return to the sea .
So went back where she belonged
and left all she'd found with me .
She splashed farewell with a tail
then swam away out to the sea .
Leaping in and out of the water,
again she was free .
I watched the sky until the sun slipped away
out of sight .
I heard my mermaid singing
as I fell asleep that night .
In the morning when I woke from a deep and peaceful rest .
I found lying there beside me
a pirates treasure chest .
Gold and diamonds where filled to the top
of this massive trunk .
Later that day in the bay
a pirates ships had been sunk
