Out There On The Water
By Paul McCann
Out there on a boat floating beyond
where the waves break ,
you can catch a sunflake , like a moment that you make. .
Sometimes its nice to leave the world behind
like a heartache you can’t take no more time to get away.
Walk away , Escape from the rat race into an open place,
where the horizon touches the sky.
Out on the ocean , surrounded by water and sky .
There are no mountains to climb out there where seagulls fly .
When your far away from the land
and the golden sands of another time .
and another place but you don’t have to face that today
because you’re out there on the water of this peaceful place .
The ocean is everywhere and there’s not a care in the world for you .
Its so peaceful fishing out there in the sun until the day is done
and the stars shine down on the water where nothing really matters
except the wonder of it all and you can see how small you really are
Just a speck on the ocean with the stars above ,
part of the cosmos we are in .
Out on the water it seems such an open space
and the sun so faraway sends down warmth to shine upon the water .
Where I’m sitting in a boat still afloat
far from the city streets and beer gardens with back packers
and beach parties with fire crackers
and the only thing I share
is the salty air and the water is everywhere
I’m out there on the water
far away from land and all I understand
is just the beauty of this open place
with no avenues or traffic lights .
Just the distant lights of the stars in the sky.
As I close my eyes out on the water .
