A Picture Of Her
By Paul McCann
She appeared in the corner of my room and stood there before me . A light was shining around her and she never spoke . I thought why is she here and where did she come from . I had no answer . Maybe I could have asked her but I was too scared and couldn’t utter a sound , like me she was silent and still . We just looked at each other . I closed my eyes and her image became a picture in my mind after a little while I opened my eyes and she had disappeared ,
All I could remember was this vision of loveliness . On her face she wore a smile and deep inside of my heart I heard her say .
“Don’t worry ., its ok . I’ll always be here for you “
I was sad that she had disappeared . It was like I had lost a friend .
After that night my life changed . I often would be staring into space .
I was always thinking of her and her presence was never far away . She would go walking through my mind and I watched her with my inner eye .
I became very aware of her and most days she was there .with me , unseen and out of sight by very close .I was the only one who saw here . I often asked other people if they could see her as well but they never did . I wondered why no one else could see her . It was easy for me and I could feel her I feel her presence ever where I went .
All I knew was that she was always with me and I’ve never once let go of that and I will always hold on to that for she lives deep inside of me .
As I grew, she also did and she soon became a lady .
The young girl had grown up as well . I was never alone in my lifer because she had stayed beside me and as time went by and my inner eye opened more, I saw her face in greater detail . This beautiful lady always re me standing there looking at me and walking beside me .
On some occasions when I was half awake and half asleep, I felt her touch my hand .
As if to say hello , I’m always with you .
Then suddenly she appeared in a dream . She stood there looking at me ,
“I’m always here “
She said .
Every now and then I she would come and go just like that in a dream or in a vision and her smile never changed . It was comforting and reassuring for me . .
I had no family , no friends and no one but her to keep me company through all the things I was going through .
I wondered who she was and why I was the only one who could see her.
I noticed she had stopped aging as I was growing older .
She looked about twenty and stayed that way .
When I went to bed at night during the war she would just stand there near me bed now in the asylum where I lived staring out of the top floor windows of where my room was situated . The streets far below echoed with gunfire and bombs exploding but her presence kept me feeling safe .
In my old age I was aware of her presence even more than ever before .
She left a picture of her there on the table in my room because she told me soon, I would be leaving with her and she wanted everyone to know who she was when we had gone . I was happy with that because now at last everyone would be able to see this beautiful lady who had always been with me in my life .
The End

This is such a beautiful
This is such a beautiful story Paul. She must have been his guardian angel, watching over him. How wonderful that he saw her in all her beauty.
I was extremely moved while reading, as I'm a great believer in guardian angels. Very much enjoyed reading.
Jenny.
