Darkness of the Dawn

Night bleeds
gold tickling leaves
the grasslands breathe,
shadows
sliding,
sweeping
the savannah;
wine
bathes it
flames
paint it
Look!
a spark soars,
cries,
skates the honey-glazed lake,
the wind
singing
the trees
laughing
bowing,
the King
in ruff of
fire
in eyes
in sky,
sapphire feathers
petal crests
tails of ribbon;
swooping
gliding
rhyming
But wait -
doves
falling
guns
roaring, ripping the sky,
the wind
howling
the trees
burning
a cub
caught in a
net
trapped in a
cage
beat by a
man,
who is cruel
here,
in the jungle,
where other nets hang:
Death, stitched with silver,
sparkling in the sun
now from above,
Death snatches the spider;
alive in Its beak
they fight for the feast
then sprung from the shadows
It beats at the bird
bouncing her body
the rocks, now bloody
and the sun
rising up,
setting over
our lives,
giving birth to
new lives,
growing stronger;
the dawn
the Earth
Rebirth
