How does it do it?

What a wonderful thing is the human nose!
detecting as up through its tubes the air goes,
the scent of the lavender when the breeze blows,
and so many varied aromas it knows;
the lining of cells over which our breath flows
has more than three hundred receptors and those
link with molecules floating, and each smell’s an array
so with mix and match, we can sense, they say
about ten thousand smells in the air and from food
– our taste is part scent, that’s why meals taste so good!
[IP: a smell, an aroma]
