Sleepless

My toes curl
As your fingers against
My back, make
Tracks like braces, metal
Teeth, smile as though
Caught in a trap.
A fox screams, that
Blood curdling scream of
Midnight awake.
'Can you hear that?'
'Am I deaf?'
'I do have to repeat myself.'
How often do you say the same,
Same, same, same thing?
Over and over,
It is over, you know
That, but I still long for more.
I stare through darkness, stare
Like eyelids held with glue, seeing
Nothing as visions adjust.
Dreamlike but sleepless, hands
Stop, limp.
Limping through worlds imagined in the dark,
Each scream a reminder.
'Can you hear that?'
She sleeps. My toes straighten,
Metal cages hold back thought, instead
I walk aimless from thoughtless dark, to
Prisons of light. As sun rises
I alight and look back at you.

Dark, entrancing piece. Lots
Dark, entrancing piece. Lots of bleak, lingering images , liked eyelids held with glue, limping through worlds, tracks like braces, moment of repetition worked well, and felt a slight lift at the end amongst the prisons of light. All came together really well, great pick
