On Inter-stellar Strategy

I'd like to discuss humanity's future in non-Earth space. The plan will be to use large multi-generational ships to settle Earth-like planets, with which our galaxy abounds. Since intelligent life is much more of a one-off than animal life, there'll be numerous planets full of plants and animals, water, oil, gold, etc. The colonizers will hunt, harvest, and hew new civilizations out of the cosmic wild. Not every ship will suceed but we'll send out lots of ships full of volunteers, and some will die. If we come across tribal life, as in Avatar, we should co-exist with them; Who knows what they might teach us, or how we might become symbiotic?
Colonizers should be selected to not have the education or information needed to create nuclear weaponry... or even come close. Awesome scientific knowledge might be required to create the ships, but probably not to navigate or live in them.
And, until the time such missions are possible, we must strive to make this Earth a more civilized and peaceful place. Actually, the very worship of technology that drives us toward expansion into space could, in the long term, damage its prospects. We need not only scientists and engineers, but also philosophers and artists; A delay of one more century won't matter.
