Sweet Hummingbird

Observing sweet
Beauty on youtube
Powers thoughts
To such elegant muse,
Fashioned with those
Fluttering wings that
Tremor of colour
So esteemed,
Effortlessly you
Wear flamboyance
Appealing to both
Young and old,
Harmony of
Hypnotic meeting
Craving inspiration
So untold,
You're skilled in
Silent feasting
Siphoning nectar...
Those welcome blooms,
From Alaska down to
Mexico taking flight,
Enticed migration
Because of Winter's bite.

Wish I was going with them,
Wish I was going with them, Jenny. Little chilly here in Cold Spring. But I don't fly as well as I used to. Ha. Cheers.

Thank you for drawing
Thank you for drawing attention to this wonderful bird!
Apart from their phenomenal migration, their ability to fly forwards, backwards and sideways, their ability to beat their wings 50 to 60 times a second, and on occasion 150 times a second, and with complicated twisting and untwisting of their wings and the special bone and socket shoulder joint necessary for their movement, and knowing exactly how much to eat for their journey, not to be too hungry or heavy (!) (and much else I think) they are also so beautiful! Rhiannon
