A writing class exercise, 'The unreliable narrator'!
Summer time is quite stressful. The sun has got his hat on at a most
unearthly hour and doesn’t remove it until an equally unearthly
hour. I close my eyes hoping to get a few more minutes but the others
are up buzzing around eager to get going. What is wrong with them? A
few extra minutes won’t make any difference. But there you go I’m
wide awake now. Just time for a quick brush up, can’t go out
looking as though I’ve had a hard night.
As usual long queues everywhere. Why the powers that be can’t get
their act together and sort things out I do not know. Just ask me,
common Joe, or the man on the Clapham omnibus. But there is a job to
be done and procrastination is not the way forward.
At last traffic has cleared and I have a clear run at things. Turn on
the sat nav and I’ll be there any time now. BUT, my problem is I am
of an inquisitive nature, saw an open doorway and thought I’d
investigate. We all know the saying ‘curiosity killed the cat’
well on this occasion it nearly killed me. I had a good look round,
nothing of interest well of interest to me so I decided to leave and
continue with my important day job. And as you know it is a job which
ensures the safety of our beloved planet.
Now where was that door through which I came. The problem is when I
am stressed I lose all sense of time and place. I rushed around like
a maniac and eventually collapsed in an exhausted heap. Breathing
heavily and unable to move I thought my end had come. Praying to the
gods who made me I was ready to breath my last. Then salvation was at
hand. Sustenance was provided, a dish of nectar laid before me. I
drank my fill and having recovered my strength I was able to resume
my daily tasks.
Before leaving I turned and looked up at my saviour and gave him a
bow in thanks.
I suppose you could call my adventure ‘The Plight of the Bumble
Bee’.

To bee or not to bee?
A really nice story. I got quite a buzz from reading it.
