Once a young man who had read lots of fairytales went out into the world seeking a beautiful princess to rescue and marry.
And as he was passing a cottage in the woods, through a window of the cottage, he saw a young maiden asleep on a couch and, because he had read Sleeping Beauty, thought that she was a princess who had been put to sleep by a spell and so went into the cottage and, just like the prince in Sleeping Beauty, started to kiss her.
Unfortunately, she was not an enchanted sleeping princess but the woodcutters daughter who had just lay down to have a nap upon her couch and when he kissed her she woke up screaming.
"Help, father", she screamed.
And hearing her, her father came out of his room and, seeing the young boy, picked up his woodcutters axe and started to chase him.
Infact he chased him all the way through the forest before, getting tired, the woodcutter gave up the chase and the boy managed to escape.
But then the boy came to a tower, out of which a young pretty maiden was leaning with her very long blonde hair hanging down and the boy, because he had read Rapunzel, grabbed hold of the young maidens hair and tried to climb up the side of the tower.
Unfortunately, just as he was half way to the top, the maidens long blonde hair slipped off of her head because, you see, it was just a long blonde wig and actually she was completely bald and then, instead of reaching her window; the man, still holding onto the wig, came tumbling back down again with a bump and the maiden was so angry with him for pulling off her wig that she started yelling at him and throwing things like cups and saucers and so the young man had to run away to avoid being hit with crockery.
Not long afterwards, however, the young man came across a glittering glass slipper lying outside the door of a cottage and, because he had read Cinderella, he knocked upon the cottage door sure that it would belong to a beautiful but ill treated orphan girl.
Unfortunately, although there was a beautiful, ill treated orphan girl in the cottage, when he tried to put the glass slipper on her foot it was too big.
Thats because it didn't belong to her but the ugliest of her three ugly step sisters who, just like the woodcutter had, chased him through the forest and might have caught him if one of the glass slippers she'd been wearing had not got broken and a piece of sharp glass not got stuck in her foot.
"Oh dear", he said, finally, giving up and sitting down on a rock, feeling depressed, "This isn't like a fairy tale at all".
While he was feeling depressed however, he noticed a girl swimming in a lake nearby and then he saw her dive underwater but not come back up again.
Thinking that she was drowning the young man dove into the lake to save her but when he grabbed hold of her he realised that she wasn't a woman at all but a little mermaid, just like in the fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" with a flapping fish tale.
All the same, the little mermaid was moved by his act of heroism and invited him to come back home with her to the underwater castle of her father Neptune and not long afterwards they fell in love, were married and lived happily ever after.
