You saw me pretty as I sat
My head held high, my ponytail
with my red hair a sunny sight.
You looked at me with narrowed eyes
Your hunter’s face half hid in shade
Your mind caught me just on my luck
You called me up right after class
You tended me your car key pass
My eyes lit up full of delight.
That’s how we met, let’s fate decide -
And fate decided, many years
We crossed and lived each other’s lives
Until your marriage and you died
Years later, slowly, undenied
False happiness, all colourless
You lived for 92 long years -
I took your colours held them high
And read your hundred letters still
And off and on see you walk by
The same old you, and wink at me.
