If Jesus had an iPhone

If Jesus had an iPhone,
It’d be old,
scuffed along the edges,
cracked where it hit the floor
while he knelt to help someone crying
in the grocery store parking lot.
He wouldn’t be verified.
no blue check.
But his words would spread
like morning light…
Soft, sure,
unstoppable.
He’d wake to buzzing prayers
masquerading as texts:
“You up?”
“I don’t know what to do anymore.
Do you think God still listens?”
And He’d answer. Always.
Not with platitudes.
but presence.
He’d post pictures of dinner tables,
long and crowded,
Laughter spilling like wine.
He’d tag the lonely, the lost,
those who hadn’t been invited in years.

His Notes app would hold parables:
stories of swipes and likes,
of empty notifications
and hearts still searching.
“There once was a girl who filtered everything
until even her soul felt pixelated.”
He’d FaceTime doubters,
send voice memos to cynics,
drop emojis like seeds
into inboxes grown cold.
He’d livestream loved,
not polished, not staged,
but raw and real,
kneeling beside a stranger
with nothing to offer
but everything.
He’d use his phone to find the hurting,
to map out grace,
to text forgiveness
before it was asked.
His battery never quite full,
but never quite dead either.
Just enough.
And when the noise got too loud,
he’d put it face-down,
Look up,
and say:
“Let’s walk. No screen between us."
Because even in this world of algorithms
and autofill prayers,
he’d still choose
to show up
in person.

Well I'm an atheist ...
... but I was impressed by the ideas there. Good one Yutka.

Favourite line and perhaps the original idea?
