Close my eyes –
I can almost see her;
head bent – mouth
slightly apart.
The tip of her tongue
touching her lip; curled
as a petal
about to unfurl.
In madder-pink
kimono, she sits,
beside our sleepy
Siamese at the fireside;
knees – drawn up high...
deep in concentration.
Cat twitches as it dreams
and with one flick
of its paw,
Hollywood Red
seeps between ten,
naked toes across
oiled-oak floor.
Worth more,
than any Matisse
this faded masterpiece...
and its glimpse
of long ago.

An absolutely delicious poem for the senses, Tina ;) I love your use of colour and texture. A beautiful poem and well worthy of a cherry!

I have run out of superlatives to describe your work Tina. All I can say is that your standard never drops.

Well done on the cherry!
But the poem of a portait girl,
is magnificent. I can imaginbe all.
The gir,in a kimono,she sounds best ever,
and the cat twitching. Funny enough our daughter,
had a little oval satue of a cat white china sitting
by a fire so tiny, but a gold glow ion fire, course she
turned it over and showed me,it was a place for a candle and lit for us,brilliant looked if cat really
sat by fire with it on. I love the descriptions here
in your poem, the gir sounds beautiful from memory, am
I right thinking!
A Happy New Year to you
and keep going with your great poems and stories.
all the best.

Keep warm. What exotic bird's have you in your garden,
