I liked that. The picture drawn, but also, the form seems to suit it as I like the lines being self-contained so emphasising the thoughts being each slightly shorter, and the simple rhyme making the last word an emphasised finale. Rhiannon

I am please you like this. Personally I am not sure about it being 'centred' I think it looks a bit gimmicky.

I am going to change it to normal to see how it looks.

I have never watched Star Wars so the analogy went over my head. 

I have been asked if I want to go to LPGC in September, I'm tempted, I spent a few years there on and off. It's an interestng city (if you can handle the cockroaches), but there are better places in the Canaries. They make terrific Rum (Ron) in Arucas GC, a good match for anything Caribbean and much cheaper!

I am not keen on the presentation of this piece, I am going to change to the normal format to see how it looks

From memory I think Arucas is on the North side of the island. I must admit when I first arrived on LPGC, I pigged out a bit on Ron Miel, but it is, as you say, pretty sweet and after a a couple of glasses it gets a bit much. I have the same with chocolate, I love it, but after half a bar it irritates my throat.

I discovered Arucas when I tried it thinking it was Ron Miel and it was very good, quite similar to Brugal, the excellent rum from the Dominican Republic. Since many destitute Canarians went (or were sent) there to work in the sugar plantations a 100 or so years ago I guess they brought back some of the rum making skills. Similarly the Canarians have there own version of the classic stew Sancocho from the DR.

There is a very interesting Museum in a castle on Lazarote, near the village of Nazareth I think, which goes into detail about the history of Canarian residents and how they shipped out to the Caribbean to either make some money or simply survive.

It's not the size of the cucerachas it's the shear volume in LPGC. Much fewer on Lanzarote and almost none apparently on Tenerife. 

I don't know quite where you are these days, I thought you'd gone to France? I never managed to see any cicadas in on the peninsular although I heard the little b's. I don't recall hearing them in the Canaries maybe too dry for them or the soil too hard for the eggs to develop. Perhaps they don't like Palm fronds or Drago trees :).

I managed to creep up on a cicada in the DR resting in a Lime tree, it didn't see any bigger than a cockroach as I recall.

An old school friend of mine now lives in North Carolina where they have this 17year cycle when they come in there millions out of the soil to mate. I think those ones are pretty big (and scary)
