river filling
spilling
tumbling
further onward, forward, downward
rumbling
rushing, crashing, splashing, pushing
urgent motion
moving, shoving
churning
fast returning
to the basin
of the ocean
vast
at last.

this is so exciting! I loved it - would never have thought of shoving, but it's perfect, giving the idea of eagerness. And I love the peace of the 2 wide, flat A sounds at the end - vast made me think of the sky and last the sea wrapping round the earth. It's sort of like a sigh. I keep reading it all over and over :0)

Lovely, watery poem, I enjoyed the free flowing arrangement of the river's description. It's so alive and very much an apt theme, given all the bursting banks and frozen, flooded fields I observe on my drive to work.
