I saw the deer – two of them
lingering alongside
a woodsy tract of land
one doe & one dappled child-
a cute little thing
little did he know
this day of days would be
a memory-adventure.
The lure of apples
scattered in rambling
bunches along forest’s edge
led the deer
to a tree-hideaway &
thankfully a pair of binoculars fell
to the ground-
baby deer felt the sudden fear
in momma as both changed
into accelerated moments &
disappeared into the forest.
A safe haven was their reward.
