I love music
though it’s a mystery to me,
a language I don’t speak
nor even understand,
I stave off the anger
that I cannot read
what is written
on the lines
or between them.
I’ll never find the key
-there are too many.

I hear goblins in Grieg
and miracles in Mozart,
brilliance in the blues
and joy in jazz. Three chords can be enough,
Everything is fine in ¾ time.

"Goblins in Grieg" We should all go to the Hall of the Mountain King given a chance.
As creative a poem as I'll see today. Nicely done, Ewan. Paul

I wonder sometimes whether
I wonder sometimes whether technical knowledge - or a bit at least - may take the mind to the details and hinder the enjoyment and 'hearing' of the whole. Rhiannon

Inspired. My son and daughter had an innate ability to pick out the patterns in music, daughter taught herself to sight read music at age seven; son was ascribing numbers rather than musical notation to Bach at age 20mths he could "hear it", both have perfect pitch. Sadly, I hadn't the talent or finance to support their astonishing ability at that time. I often wonder if what we hear is so very different as a result, though my enjoyment dances along with yours, and many others like us I think.
Good stuff

I wanted to ask...
How the hell you thought that up & then penned so artfully... but I'm not asking just, just reading it & enjoying it. .. well done*
Ok.. was it over a Pint ? Did you dream it? or did you actually take some music lessons?... never mind...
