Designed to catch water

The desert beetle has hydrophilic bumps
upon its back.
Standing on the sand ridge facing the wind
if lifts its back up and
droplets of water condense there.
When the drop becomes big enough
it rolls down hydrophobic troughs
to its mouth.
Can you imagine how such a system could evolve,
to solve the need for water?
All those functions bit by bit
if they sprung up separately
wouldn’t fit,
just be a handicap –
naturally selected out.
No, these clever systems must have been designed
complete,
as we find.
