When the Cat is Away

Dick, the cat,went to London
because he had been told
that the city's pavements
were paved with gold.
When he found it was untrue,
he returned to his home.
Perhaps he'd have more luck
if he travelled to Rome.
In his hand he had the key
and was ready to unlock
the front door but unexpectedly
he received a great shock.
The door was widely open
and the house full of squatters..
He took matters into his hands
in order to evict the rotters.
It was his considered opinion
that it wasn't at all nice
that his houses hould be
occupied by three blind mice.
So, ably assisted and encouraged
by his loyal and formidable wife,
her chased those intruders
and cut their tails with a knife.
