Naming Tree

To know is to name
To name is to grow
To remember and show
To change what we know
To connect what we cannot see
To create history and language and poetry
To separate and connect and combine with all we can find
To put entire species to flight and watch diversity disappear overnight
To name the sacred unknowing and find the mosaic of the human race—

Summed up
You've summed up the whole world there. The meaning of life, and death.

As your poems usually have
As your poems usually have done, you have got me thinking, partly wondering what it is exactly about! I am seeing the growth and development of civilisation, knowledge, and understanding, until that line, 'to put entire species to flight and watch diversity disappear overnight'. Then I see the flora and fauna disappearing, animals and nature, under climate change, human expansion of cities and farms/industry. But also, being Trump obsessed, I see immigrants and Latinos fleeing or hiding in the United States and racial and other diversity being 'stopped'! Is society and knowledge unravelling, and unknowing, going backwards, but the mosaic of humanity is being revealed. Great stuff, certainly gets me thinking!
