Long in the Tooth

My first extraction since 'Seventy Eight',

a sixty-something molar has sealed its fate.

The soundtrack music is 'Who Loves the Sun', 

a Lou Reed song from a long time gone, 

I muse on this as the dentist is drilling

into my jaw, as it ain't just a filling.

I muse about many things, some of them crap,

by the time that I'm finished, the tooth's now a gap, 

Time is still precious, I'm decades from youth, 

hopefully, I'll hang on to be long in the tooth!
