Childhood Memories -
By Paul McCann
.
Growing up in Belfast .
Frozen pipes , icy glass .
Frosty white garden paths .
Cooking with Kosengas.
The shawed heels walking fast .
Going to Sunday mass .
Swimming at the Grove baths .
A Forum ticket pass .
Bladder balls as hard as the stone
grounds with no grass .
Slegging friends just for laughs
and wearing false face masks .
Memories of times past ,
are always what I have .
Handball on a gable
for those fit and able .
People were durable .
Nothing incurable .
Lifestyles were versatile and things were repairable .
Coats were reversible .
The cold was bearable
The rain was terrible .
The snow unstoppable .
Buses unsteerable
But how invaluable
are those infallible
memories that I have .
