On The Cold Shoulder

When they look down the barrel and they’ve got you in their sight

Well they say you’ve got a problem , well its just not right .

You’ve got to admit that you’re a real hard case ,

but love’s not guilty and she’ll try to save your face .

When you are a prisoner and a victim of their crime

Because you’re out on the cold shoulder and doing a hard time .

Well they’ll shoot you in the arm with a poison dart ,

You’ve got to have thick skin and you’ve got to be extra smart .

When you’re standing in the dock and you’re abused and accused ,

you’ll find love’s not guilty its just innocent and used .

But if you stand by love , love will stand by you

when you’re out on the cold shoulder

you will see what love can do .

Over and over , on the cold shoulder ,

they’ll shake you and they’ll break you and they’ll make you

and they’ll take you and they’ll test you over and over again ,

but just remember one thing that love will save your face

and you’ll stand there in that place innocent as charged ,

take me away from the cold shoulder where I can be

there alone with my love .

When you feel unwanted and they put you on the spot ,

the judge might say stand up and the verdict appears

you will find that love will save your face

and you will be dismissed from the start ,

but don’t forget what love can do for you

when you’re out on the cold shoulder

and your hearts beginning to turn blue .

Over and over , upon the cold shoulder ,

they’ll shake you and they’ll break you and they’ll make you

and they’ll take you and they’ll test you over and over again ,

but in the end you’ll find that love will save the day

take me away where I can be with my love ,

away from the cold shoulder where I can be

safe with my love .
