It’s a Lonely Sunrise
By Paul McCann
It’s a lonely sunrise when you wake up far away
thinking of the one you love every single .
I look up at an empty sky , it’s the same as yesterday,
a pretty silent picture , that’s a million miles away .
The rain falls down in drops of blue
and the sun shines through the violet hue
as clouds of white fight for the right
to block the morning light and I think of you .
It’s a lonely sunrise when you feel the way I do ,
the birds don’t seem to sing no more
and the flowers are missing too .’
There’s a glisten in my eyes,
like the morning dew,
covering the window , blocking out the view .
The rain falls down in drops of blue
and the sun shines through the violet hue
as clouds of white fight for the right
to block the morning light and I think of you .
It’s a lonely sunrise ,
the same as the one before ,
I see her face in the early dawn
that falls around my door.
Its true that in her absence, I love her even more ,
when see returns the sunrise won’t be lonely anymore .
The rain falls down in drops of blue
and the sun shines through the violet hue
as clouds of white fight for the right
to block the morning light and I think of you .
