Picnic Mountain
By Paul McCann
On the top of picnic mountain we always unpacked the fold up table and chairs , Then we spread out a laced tableclothand laid out the necessary silverwaresIn top hat and tails and evening dress , We sat looking at the landscape far below. We drank champagne and ate what was prepared before the night sky would put on the show . We lit our candles and we would dance and sing like two swells on top of the mountain . We left open invitations for people to join us but no one dropped in.. There's was something special about picnicking there , near the fluffed up clouds in the sky. A little touch of eccentricity never hurt us , but those days have gone by . |
