A Prayer For Change
By Paul McCann
.
They never saw him
pulling through the bin
looking for some food .
Just this homeless dude ,
trying to survive .
The cities alive ,
People on the street .
He sat on a seat ,
in the humid heat
and watched people eat .
He remained discreet
so hungry and weak ,
but what do they care ,
Sitting over there
in their fancy clothes ,
Looking down their nose ,
at him over there .
He’s been everywhere ,
He’s seen everything .
and now he’s nothing
to no one but him .
He goes to the bin
and finds some food there .
They all started to stare .
He sat on a seat
and started to eat .
What they threw away .
He started to pray .
Lord forgive all those
who look down their nose
at people like me .
For I used to be ,
exactly the same ,
But you helped me change,
my bad attitude .
Change them for the good .
Thank you for today .
Then he walked away .
