The Singer Who Found Her Voice
by Paul McCann
Cecilia was born at the break of day in the delivery room of a busy maternity ward at the old city hospital . Her voice erupted like an angel rising above the clatter and chatter . The high-pitched scream from Cecilia was more of a joyful squeal than a cry ion pain . She was giving a rendition of this unsung song announcing her arrival into the world . She was able to sustain those sounds with an expression of life and the frequency of the sounds rattled the window panes all around the room .
A few of those who were present actually applauded where her performance came to an end . One of the midwives who was making observations at that time went over to the bed where Cecilia and her parents were and said ,
“Well, hello there , it sounds as if a star has been born “
The mother and father laughed and the little baby smiled and then burst out with another unrehearsed song that grabbed the attention of all who were there .
One of the nurses opened up a few windows and said ,
“Listen to that voice , it needs to be shared “
During her waking moments Cecilia found it hard to stay quiet and continued on with her girly gou gou gurgles and when the night came, she also found it very hard to sleep . Cecilia was determined to share her voice even though there were some who were not happy about that and complained about the lack of supervision on the ward and the noisy interference from a screaming baby .
There’s always one elephant in the room but thankfully most of the staff and visitors were not concerned at all and even enjoyed the beautiful sounds Cecilia was making that even brought smiles to many around the ward .
Cecilia’s parents were very grateful for those who understood and supported them and allowed their baby girl to keep on singing.
As they were being discharged, they thanked all the staff for making their baby’s first days on earth a pleasant experience ,
One of the midwives responded ,
“Well, she certainly found her own way to say hello . You know , I’ve been here on thi9s ward for six years now and I’ve never heard anything like at all . Little Cecilia has got something unique in her voice . I wish you all the very best of luck with her “
After leaving the hospital they put Cecilia in baby capsule in their car and proceeded to drive home . They turned on the car radio and Cecilia loved the music being played . It sounded as if she even knew some of the tunes .
Aas the little car went chug-a-lug-a-lug along the road; Cecilia became more relaxed being wrapped up safe and snug in her capsule . The motion of the car made it easy for her to drift off to sleep .
Her daddy drove the car through the town and around the streets until they came to the house where they lived .He looked at Cecilia and said ,
“Sure, one day she will probably be sitting in the driver’s seat “
They both laughed and brought Cecilia and the baby capsule into the house .
The early years Cecilia came through with ease . She ate and slept and in her waking moments she kept singing away tunes she made up in her head and even though she wasn’t sure just what to do , she did it anyway . She was often lost in wondering why things were as they were and now and then in her early years, she found ways to make tears appear and she learnt to bite with her first teeth and sing with the birds on the windows sill in a world that was full of wonder for a baby girl .
Some things were too tough to chew and as her little teeth were coming through she found ways to crunch and munch and was soon sitting up to eat her meat and my goodness didn’t she sing like a bird who couldn’t fly but time surely did and there she was in the church choir singing like an angel . Cecilia was well liked and respected by the music ministry and all the people in the church who loved to hear her voice and now she was moving into a professional career with singing .
In the congregation at the church there was a Desmond Acer the Chairman for Big City Music who had contracted many global superstars into professional careers with music . Desmond was in the church that day for one purpose only , to give the final assessment on Cecilia’s professional future as an entertainer in the music business.
As soon as he heard her sing there was no doubt in his mind that she would have a contract with Big City Music .
Fate is a circumstance that can make or break many people . So many people who had success can tell their own story of how they found fame and fortune , some say it was their destiny , others say it was just luck or a twist of fate . There are moments in life that come unexpectedly without a warning that bring a change to people’s lives in an instant which happened to Cecilia and in this case, she was a victim of circumstance . Bering in the wrong place at the wrong time .
After Cecilia was given the good news that she was to have a good future in music she was ecstatic and decided to go and celebrate over dinner with a few of her close friends that evening So as she was driving to the restaurant her car ran out of petro; not far from where she had to go . She decided to walk to rest of the way to the restaurant rather than call for roadside assistance or a friend to come with a can of petrol , there would be time later to get all that sorted out ..
So, she locked up her car and started to make the way along the sidewalk .
She walked into a few drunks who were having an argument . When she tried to walk around them a fight ensued and one of the young men produced a knife that he lunged at the other men and as Cecilia was passing, she innocently walked past and the knife attack was taking place and her throat was slashed .
Some who had witnessed the incident quickly made their way over to assist . As the drunks tried to leave the scene they were apprehended and held until police arrived . Poor Cecilia was rushed to hospital by a good Samaritan in his car for emergency surgery .After being admitted she was assisted . The bleeding was stopped and her wound was treated however there was some complications after surgery and on further assessments as a result to the knife attack on her neck the damage to her larynx had taken away her strength in her vocals .Further assessments were made and the specialists informed her she would never be able to sing again .
Cecilia and her parents were devasted , at first Cecilia couldn’t cope and she ran away from home . She wrote a letter and kitchen table that she needed time out for a while . Her parents immediately informed the police who quickly were able to track her down in one of the homeless shelters in the city .
She was returned to her parents’ home and kept on suicide watch . Once a week at first and then once a month the mental health team visited her and eventually when Cecilia had come to terms with the new change in her life the mental health team discontinued their service
Cecilia had made a huge progress even though now and then she had flashbacks of that awful night but she refused to let that affect her or bring a sense of shame of her losing her fame and fortune Cecilia began to use that as a way to bring hope to others and began to work in the church community with their outreach programs in music programs to help bring others to Jesus and with the work she did it found a place in her heart to write songs and music and even she began to produce some local events for people to attend .
The work she was doing with music for the church was not unnoticed and an offer was sent to her from the private secretary of Micheal Moore , the executive manager of Good News Music ,
Cecilia was offered a role in coordinating with the music ministry in Good News Music who would being a global crusade bringing Christian music all over the world . The journey would begin in San Francisco then to many other States around America before leaving for Europe where they crusade would begin in Paris and then to Rome and move into many other Christian before returning back to San Francisco .
Cecilia was so excited and after speaking with her parents she said yes to the offer .
The things she never saw coming was the miracle of finding her singing voice again .
When the crusade was moving through America they songs and production had captured the hearts of many audiences . At all the performances , there were little miracles happening . Some of the church pastors began to see that God was working wonders for many people .
At a private function Cecilia went for prayers of healing over her larynx . The moment that people started to pray over her she felt an electric shock followed by an explosion inside her body that cause her to scream . Her voice was of such a high frequency that it suddenly drew attention from all those who were nearby .
As the gathered around they saw Cecilia lying there unconscious on the floor ,]No one disturbed her and she remained motionless there for ten minutes . She looked so peaceful . Now and then she nodded her head as if God was speaking to her.
Then when she opened her eyes, people helped her to her feet . She was embraced by all there , Cecilia knew something had happened and then she had the desire to start singing . Immediately everyone heard the voice of an angel . Some begam to weep and others were laughing with joy ; Cecilia had found her voice and when she it had an effect of those who heard .
Cecilia was offered the leading singing role for the remainer of the crusade .
After the crusade finished her singing career began with recording a new set of dongs that would be broadcast on all the Christian music channels .
Her powerful voice was bringing songs around the world on many radio stations with the impact she was making Cecilia asked to do a world tour in her own right .
All over the world she was seen at different concerts to new audiences who were.
amazed at her inspirational story and the songs she sang . Many of those songs were written during the time she was unable to sing . It was as if she had been given that time just to compose and now some of those songs were being heard .
During her world tour Cecilia was offered a 12-album contract with her music publisher with some world tours to promote the songs on those albums .
Whenever and wherever she appeared the promoters would always lead their campaign promoting , book your tickets to hear the Voice of An Angel .
Cecilia worked hard and often appeared on many television stations and was heard talking on various radio stations about the day a miracle gave her back the voice she had lost , her story gave hope and strength to many that were struggling with different hardships .
At her concerts Cecilia always made time to speak about the miracle that happened in her life . Many people were touched by her story and her tours often had the slogan , Cecilia On The Road With God on all the coaches that took Cecilia and the musicians and other singers around from place to pace . There y took the Gospel on the road .During the tour there were many people who were cured and converted .
Towards the end of her life Cecilia had seen many signs and wonders frequently presenting themselves wherever she went Her story has no end because Gods work goes on forever and there are more people like Cecilia who will be called to do God's work here on earth ,
The End
