I'm feeling every one of those trips around the sun.

Another funeral.

They get you counting - I can't help it.

It's a big family - scattered now.

I don't know the names of most of them anymore.

The old ones were my security - nan, aunties, uncles - nearly gone.

I can't remember who was last.

His wife?

Could have been.

I try to count the years since uncle Jack.

Three since my dad.

So four?

Maybe five.

Shit.

And every turn around the sun the trip is shorter.

Poignant poem. I find myself doing similar things. And the trips around the sun are indeed getting so very quick.

I know what you mean, PT. I think certain times seem crowded with these happenings and feelings, then life gets back to normal (whatever that is) again for a spell. Ain't it good when you can write about it? I like your poem.

Hi Bee. Desperation, sometimes. Big families, many events. Lots of stories to tell. Wish I could get to London to hear you read. Well done with the anthology. Just arrived back in the SW after a 24 hr round trip to York. Exile, Blood on the Tracks and an African sunset to my right. Not to mention a moving, fun, interesting day catching up. RIP Brian.

Bloody eck! You won't believe how long I spent trying to work out what the book meant. Amazing! I'd like to thank my mam and dad for their dirty weekend at the Strand Palace Hotel in 1961. How could they have known what they were about to inflict on the world.
