Worthing Road Play Area. Basildon 1972
Those new town early years.
Pushchairs and lollipops.
Paths, kerbs and kicking stones.
The fool’s gold of weak Robinsons.
Everywhere children’s footprints.
Mustard sand on blood vessel carpet
trickling down the sofas, peppering
the bedsheets, tiding our bath times.
Debbie never liked me much to be fair.
Tore the Valentines up in the play area.
She fell off the slide snogging Terry Perfect.
They had concreted the park the day before.
