A MERMAIDS TALE
The mermaid swam through warm waters,
lost were her sons and daughters.
'Where were they?' She despaired,
would the fishermen have cared?
Nets across the sea, like spiders webs,
was it something that she said,
that caused her little ones to hide,
or was this just a game, she sighed?
The coral reef was where they loved to play,
just off the Island, in the bay.
On moonlit nights, the stars so bright,
would shine and light their merry way.
But she feared the fishermen,
would take them in their fleets,
take them to a circus,
and turn them into freaks.
