Big River, Big Life

Water draining from Brazil
River Amazon to fill,
widens as it onward goes,
then into the ocean flows.
Anaconda large and long
with a squeeze that’s very strong
when around their prey they’re curled
– biggest* snake in all the world.
River dophins rather pink
– caused by scars from fights, they think!
Bendy necks help them explore
flooded, tangled, forest floor.
Like a croc, the cayman black,
waiting prey to grab, attack.
Looking like a sleepy log,
at river’s edge or nearby bog.

I can imagine children loving it, particularly
"Anaconda large and long

It is such fun to say all through!

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
love the rhythm and rhyme of this poem, and totally agree with Di in her comment. We can all learn so much from writing on subjects...it appealed to the child inside me.

beautiful poem!
Unbelievable and they say the stream is so strong it is fresh water for a mile into the sea. Our (Africa) crocodiles are a lot bigger they have in India too I think but the (Australian) alligators are biggest I saw them at the aquarium & lizard park ... very scary and very dangerous.
See you Rhiannon! &
