The Sinisterish Milkman
(For Halloween)
The sinisterish milkman from the world's end dairy
has a glint in the eye that makes you wary
and clinking bottles that are downright scary.
This cynic of a milkman brings no cheer,
just delivery bottles glacial with fear,
and his yoghurt price is far too dear!
The dark, dread milkman is near!.
From his early morning rise and growl,
cats see him, hiss, and the town dogs howl.
The maniac milkman is on the prowl.
Don't say I never warned you now!
From the night farm his float arrives my friend,
delivered to you from around the bend,
God knows when his evil round will end,
selling his all unholy blends.
Harbinger of hell, he comes,
skimmed milk topped with double scum,
and you can hide but it's best to run
from the milk float that rides to kingdom come.
Curdler of the eggs and cheese,
he roams the darkness at his ease,
old fashioned service made to please
and bring all good folks to their knees.
The sinisterish milkman knows your name;
just ignore him, he'll knock the same.
In the pre dawn selling butter
that makes you froth and twitch and mutter,
sells you milk that makes you spew,
and says it's really good for you.
The doorstep nutter at your door,
on his round for ever more!

Good stuff! Your poem made me
Good stuff! Your poem made me smile.
And it reminded me a bit of ...
Now Ernie loved a widow
A lady known as Sue
She lived all alone in Linley Lane
At number twenty two
They said she was too good for him
She was haughty, proud and chic
But Ernie got his cocoa there
Three times every week

"The dark, dread milkman is near!."
That last line made me think of Poe. A very entertaining read and very creative. Next door have the milkman...I can hear the quiet whoosh of the truck at 5am sometimes. Be afraid...
