Even Father Christmas blown over …!

Grey ‘air-ship’ convoy clouds lumber across the sky,
trees shake and bend
traffic-light pole sways
leaves skitter about
(and something sharp hit my face!),
pushed along, sideways thrust,
shove against the backward gust;
inflated ‘Father Christmas’ on his back
(hands waving appealingly),
(later lies punctured, deflated)
snowman bowled over.

Blow away the lies, the hatred,
hasty accusations, malice.

It sounds like you had quite an experience in the wind Rhiannon. Inflatable Father Christmas didn't seem to happy either. 

I liked your idea of the Grey air-ship clouds lumbering across the sky. what a great metaphor.

I was out for a short walk yesterday. It does feel good to come home with rosy cheeks, after a breath of fresh air.

I also liked the line:- leaves skitter about. It reminded me of yesterday sat at the kitchen table, and seeing the leaves flying around outside. I kept thinking they were birds when I looked from the corner of my eye. 

Hope you got home in one piece of your experience.

Thanks, Jenny. It is actually quite some time since I've done the little walk into town, and the wind power here was amazing. Fence panels down too. I thought it was lovely to see the leaves skittering along the road after them lying in piles of puddle and mush for so long. The wind dried them up and then sent them flying1

We are also getting a lot of rain down here. It being summer in the South. (Let us hope that the storms doesn't blow the roof off our old house.' Merry Christmas!

'Grey ‘air-ship’ convoy clouds lumber across the sky,'  What a delightful image; it reminds me - in the best possible way of Ted Hughes 'tented skies' if I recall correctly; and with all of it a great poem that brings to life the subject. A cherry methinks?

Thanks, I appreciate your appreciation!. I was surprised to see the steady movement of those lumbering clouds. It did show how strong the wind was. They weren't dashing across the sky, but that visible movement as of heavy vehicles was very impressive! Rhiannon

thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. It has been an unusually strong wind, though as Insert says, so mild. I can report that Father Christmas seems to be back on his 'feet' again somehow now!.

What a lovely pick - and very apt for me here where it's really warm - 14 degrees - but blowing hard enough to shake the car. Hope your face is ok now Rhiannon and that the golden cherries make up for it a little bit!

Thank you. My face wasn't really hurt, thank you, just a little shock – some rubbish blown up I suppose.

Golden cherries for the wind is quite unusual, though it can be very invigorating! Rhiannon
