Pasty faces and foggy lands

In dreams that shake the soul

Phobetor weaves a tapestry

Of dank and dripping shrouds

To chill the blood and tremble lips

Though limbs are limp and trusting

 

Why not the flight of angels bring

Alight in rainbow colors?

Why toil subconscious fears

And stir a flight or fight reaction?

Did not love’s beauty incase your heart?

Did fragrant flowers elude your world?

 

Perhaps a greater god than thee

Should visit slumbering mortals

And spirit nightmares far away

On tender wings of butterflies

To drop in volcanic craters deep

And never disturb another sleep

I agree celticman- It seems to be the way, when you need a good night sleep with dreams of soft, puffy clouds and blue sky happiness, that's when a nightmare will strike....still, there's always hope for pleasant dreams.smiley

I admire the way you have woven the drama and terror of the dreamer with the immobile physical self, lifeless, perhaps perspiring in sleep. It's got me wondering where I'll go tonight in my dreams, the hidden room, the toilet with no door?

Ah yes Jane, the toilet with no door. It's haunted my nightmares too and sometimes in my dreams, it has four brick walls and no windows either...and no toilet! Its a horrible nightmare -- wonder what it means in dream analysis? smiley

Hi Tom-- yes, I suppose it was a bit of a rant to that bringer of nightmares, an attempt at arm chair psychoanalysis – asking them, why must they sprinkle only dark dreams on the slumbering?smiley
