Winter Landscapes

Dark brown fringe upon blue sky,
skeletal trees stretched, reaching high;
some look mangled, twigs all tangled,
some are brush-like, – symme-tree,
some are tall and thin in rows,
some well-orbed when mistletoe grows:
winter landscapes bleak and bare,
slumbering beauty everywhere!

Thank you for this reminder
Thank you for this reminder of beauty in the winter. I can't say it's my favourite season but a bare tree is a thing of wonder. I hope you have a very happy new year Rhiannon - please keep on posting your wonderful poems and photos!

In South Africa it is middle summer
Yes Rhiannon, in South Africa it is middle summer now, in Pretoria we have the most lovely summer evenings, peaceful, cool and quiet. Even now Old Year's I have yet to hear a cracker, New Year I will probably be fast asleep!
Although I must say lately the past few years we have had much more rainfall than what we're used to. It must be the global warming effect it is worrying.
I enjoy your poems I always read them, if I may dare say, you are really getting very good at it.
Keep well, all the best, and your family! Nolan &

Figuratively yes
Figuratively yes, in the first book of the chronicles the land is ruled by the evil Queen Taris, the white witch. The land is caught in eternal winter and there is never Christmas. The four children destined as kings and queens and the great Aslan, the Good Lion overthrow the witch and bring back spring and summer to Narnia.
The stories are a spiritual nature they are fascinating, fantasy mystery. My favourite "teenager" stories. There are altogether 7 "small" books of which only three has been made into films, Disney. Absolutely brilliant.
See you! Tom

I almost missed this Rhiannon
I almost missed this Rhiannon. I love the gentle movement of this poem. So beautifully described and the photos look almost like paintings with those gorgeous colours.
A definite treasure for Winter.
Jenny.
