Alone among many
An’ thou wouldst turn thine eyes from me;
I ask thee, what ill have I done?
‘Thou hast honour’
You charge.
Thou wouldst speak against me;
I ask thee, what crime have I committed?
‘Thou hast integrity’
You accuse.
An’ thou wouldst raise thine hand against me;
I ask thee, ‘dost thou hate me so much?
‘Thou art not of us; an’ we fear thee’
Thou dost speak but the truth.
But this I wouldst say to thee,
I will no longer run, no longer hide,
I owe thee nothing; for thou art not of me.
Come then if thou dare.

I was fascinated by the last five words. Very scarey!
Good to read your work again.

I second all that has been said, darkenwolf. A more than worthwhile read.
