throwing bricks

If words were bricks, there's no building
can hold my feelings, make today's News watertight
so tears cannot get in;
I'd hurl these at you
Murderer! Liar!
but all you'd hear is "Victor, and to you
the spoils". Do you consider so many, many deaths
collateral damage, or damage at all?
Quel dommage -
what a pity! You have none.
I want to tear up these days like pavement slabs, and
throw them before oncoming history,
Howl,
not for my child, mother, father, lover, sister, brother -
thank (not God, since He's behind you, according to some other words...)
my lucky stars perhaps, the kind which don't turn out to be bombs falling in the night -
for humanity, the billions
outside that righteous "we, us, our",
the remainder at the end of the sum.
I can't do maths, prefer lines hand drawn, possibilities. Peace
is a time for little frictions, like wildflowers, messy as Life.
You speak of strength, but your plough is drawn by the four horse-
men of the apocalypse -
only monsters could grow in land so cleared

It was your final line that hit home for me Di...

Hear! Hear! Di, your words
Hear! Hear! Di, your words touched my soul and cry out for the world to listen. There seems to be so much fear for those unfortunate to be caught up in terror, I can understand your distress and Turlough's.
We live in scary times and have to carry on regardless. Keep writing your feelings down, both you and Turlough. People are listening...well I am anyway.
Jenny.

A starkly angry and powerful
A starkly angry and powerful poem, Di. It's our Pick of the Day. Do share on social media. The painting is 'Bomb Falling into Water' by Leonard Rosoman (1942), I hope it's ok. It's in the public domain.

Just perfect.
There's so much inhumanity around at the moment. Not sure I can remember when the world was so messed up as it is now.
Very definitely powerful and emotive words here, Di. Felt by so many.
Richly deserved accolades.

In 66 years, I certainly can't, either.

Thank you for this, Di. It's
Thank you for this, Di. It's a wonderful howl of rage and grief, and we just need to keep howling, as many of us as possible.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry as I watched Trump have his tantrum when it turned out his 'deal' was looking decidedly shaky. Never mind the deaths. It's the deal that counts.
Thanks again for writing this.
