A Valentine from a False Friend

When we first met I didn’t know you.
I can’t say it was love at first sight.
First an occasional friend
sometimes helping me out at night.
It took a while for you to grow on me.
Finding myself with you on my mind
I cannot say it was love at first sight,
but when I fell my love was blind.
I could do things I thought beyond me
taking me to places I’d not go alone
You convinced me I was invincible.
With you at my side I wasn't a clown.
But you wanted to be my master.
I found domination was your game.
An abuser I loved no more.
Just the bottles from whence you came.
