These coralled depths are searched
for the dead, a nautilus sails,
functions on disconnects,
patrols the borders
of such a short memory span
that it is exposed to its own alienation
over and over again.
Chambers empty and fill;
the burden of water, the lift of air,
movement only possible
by drawing the world into itself
and thrusting it back out again
like a rejection.
The mechanics of love,
the birthright of a shell to retreat to,
the weapons of solitude.
I can only be understood
within these limitations -
the darkness of senses
where words might be,
in the blindness of light.

For those conversant with
For those conversant with marine exploration the analogy between the mollusc and the eponymous submarine springs to mind but the poem delves into deeper waters and becomes, as I see it, a metaphor for fluctuating emotions like love, rejection and solitude; the limitations within which these feelings are contained and a sense of alienation, a life disconnect.
Whether my interpretation is correct or not is irrelevant as the poem stands on its own for the elegance of language.

I think Luigi is spot on with his interpretation of your poem. Couldn't have put it any better myself.
